New Hierarchy Window
A Hierarchy window with a column system, reimplementing the "New Hierarchy" currently in preview in Unity 6.3+ for Unity 2022.3 / 6.0.
Open it from the Add Tab menu when right-clicking a window tab.
What You Can Do
- Tree view, two-way selection sync with the standard Hierarchy, and rename (F2)
- Drag & drop (reparenting, reordering, moving between scenes, placing prefabs from the Project window)
- Columns: Visibility / Picking / Active / Static / Layer / Tag / component icon column
- Right-click the header to toggle columns; widths and order are saved
- Search (by name +
t:TypeName), prefab override bars and added-object badges - Settings from the gear icon in the header (scope of column edits, alternating row background, showing hidden objects)
Adding a Custom Column
You can register columns from outside the package with a static method marked with the [SCEHierarchyColumn] attribute:
csharp
[SCEHierarchyColumn("MyPackage/MyColumn")]
static void CreateColumn(SCEHierarchyColumnDescriptor d)
{
d.Title = "My";
d.DefaultWidth = 60;
d.MakeCell = () => new Label();
d.BindCell = (ve, ctx) => ((Label)ve).text = ctx.gameObject ? ctx.gameObject.tag : "";
}About Unity 6000.3 and later
Because the official New Hierarchy exists there, the SCE version is automatically disabled.
